Urban School spring sports season recap

As we head into spring break, Urban athletes will receive well deserved time off from both classes and practices. With most, if not all of their seasons complete, potential playoff runs grow nearer and nearer. Let’s take a look back on how our Blues squads have done up until now.

Girls soccer: Holding a 5-2-3 record, the varsity girls are 3-1 in league play with a 15-goal difference over league opponents. The junior varsity girls, fresh off of an undefeated 2013 season, in which they didn’t allow a single goal, have yet to lose a game once again.

Boys lacrosse: Led by senior captains Max McCready and Sigi Ocker, the team has gone 10-2 so far, already the best record in school history.

Girls softball: After their league championship last year, the girls have been moved into a higher division and are currently 2-4.

Boys golf: The boys are currently in fourth place, with the league tournament coming up on April 24.

Boys tennis: Holding sixth place in the BCL West, the varsity boys are 4-7.

Boys baseball: Standing fourth in their league, the boys are 4-7 with four games remaining.

Coed track: The track team is in fourth place in their division with 3 total points standing only 3 points out of first.

Coed swimming: Competing in their first season in the BCL West, the team currently stands 0-3.

Coed fencing: The girls finished their season with a 3-6 record, and the boys finished their season 8-1, winning the league championship.

As postseason aspirations near for Blues squads, all teams leave the success of their regular seasons and prepare for  a championship push.
