Roughly five Urban students joined the White House estimated 1 million people gathered in Washington, D.C, to look on live as their president was sworn into office for his second term on Monday, Jan. 21.
“Obama’s inauguration for a second term is a monumental event in U.S. history,” said Helena Kleiner (’13), a senior who attended the ceremony. “It really shows the change that has gone on in the United States.”
Kleiner, an Obama supporter, admitted that the president “had a harsh first term.” However, she believes that the enthusiasm of the crowd at the inauguration testified to the desire of people for Obama “to finish what he started.”
